Utz Kapeh now available
CAFECO JOINS UTZ KAPEH CERTIFICATION PROGRAM
Cafeco UK announces partnership with Utz Kapeh Foundation to buy certified responsible coffee.
Cafeco today announced a partnership with Utz Kapeh Foundation for buying certified responsible coffee.
Certification is based on Utz Kapeh’s international code of contact for coffee producers, which sets criteria for
environmental and social coffee growing practices and efficient farm management. Cafeco will make an initial
purchase of Brazilian Cerrrado Utz Kapeh certified coffee from a Utz Kapeh-certified coffee producer.
Cafeco believe that the Utz Kapeh program, with clear social, environmental, and economic criteria for the
production of coffee and a system of control and traceability, is a great initiative for improving sustainability
throughout the coffee sector. Cafeco intends to increase the volume of Utz Kapeh certified coffee in the following
years.
“We are proud of this partnership with the Utz Kapeh Foundation. It is an important next step in our company’s
commitment to sustainable coffee sourcing”, explained Adam Badger, Director for Cafeco UK.
Utz Kapeh ( meaning good coffee in Maya language ) is a non profit foundation established as a partnership between
coffee producers, roasters and non-governmental organisations. The Utz Kapeh Foundation is an independent
organisation that operates a world wide certification program for responsible coffee production and sourcing.
Combined with better terms of trade and chain of custody, Utz Kapeh provides assurances for responsible coffee
sourcing. Today thousands of coffee producers in countries in Central America, Asia and Africa are Utz Kapehcertified.
An increasing number of coffee roasters and brands are partnering with Utz Kapeh to purchase Utz
Kapeh-certified coffee.
Cafeco will launch two Utz Kapeh certified products, beans and pods. Roasted coffee beans for espresso use
packed in 500g and 1kg. Coffee pods available in 44mm for espresso machines and 62mm soft pod for use
in domestic pod machines like the Philips* Senseo*. Available exclusively through Cafeco resellers or online at
